Most Under Appreciated Artist: Normal Rockwell

I have long believed that Normal Rockwell is one of, if not the greatest American artist ever. He employed a hyper-realistic style that packed vibrant life and emotion into every detail. Here are some of my all time favorites.

Here is a classic example of story-telling through art.

And as a teacher, this one always made me smile.

From the "Freedoms" Series, this guy just stands for America.

The artist himself seemed to have a curious fixation on the concept of art as a window or mirror upon reality. He includes such portals in many of his works.

  1. Whoa! You been busy -- got some catching up to do.
But in the meantime, Yes, and that emphatically:
Norman Rockwell is a consummate artist, both technically and emphathically --
worth all the paraphiliac daubers of the past half century rolled into one (plus a side of fries).
